The Clean Heat Rhode Island application is a two-step process. The Part 1 application should be completed prior to equipment installation and serves as a pre-approval to secure your incentive funds. Part 2 is to be completed after equipment installation. The application can be completed by either the equipment owner or installer. Please see below for step-by-step instructions on how to complete the application

Before You Begin a Rebate Application

Before you begin a rebate application, you must complete a Verification of Eligibility Application.

Begin a Rebate Application – Part 1

Select “Begin incentive application” next to your approved Verification of Eligibility application.

Step 1:

Enter your project name, verify the installation address, and select the installer name and payment recipient.

Step 2:

  • Select the equipment you are installing. Additional information about the heat pump or heat pump water heater will be required depending on the equipment you select for installation.
  • The Estimated Total Cost should include the heat pump and installation costs only. If included in the invoice, the following items must list the cost separately and are not incentivized:
    • Furnace (if dual fuel)
    • Electrical service upgrades
    • Other non-heat pump work (e.g., weatherization, plumbing, unrelated services)
    • Taxes
  • Click “Save and Continue”

Step 3:

  • Upload the proposals for the equipment you plan to install.
  • Complete the Certification and Signature section.
  • Click “Save and Submit”

Application Submitted

Your application will be reviewed by the program administrator. If the program administrator has any questions regarding your application, you will receive the request via email. You will also receive an email when your application is approved. Once your application is approved your incentive amount will be reserved.

Begin a Rebate Application – Part 2

Click on “Continue” under Part 2 Status of the Incentive Application.

Step 4:

  • Verify the summary of your equipment installed and the rebate totals.
  • Enter information about the equipment installed.
  • Enter payment information for where the rebate is to be deposited.
  • Click “Save and Continue”

Step 5:

  • Upload the final, paid installation invoice.
  • Upload a picture of the condenser model number plate.
  • Click “Save and Submit”

If your application is not selected for QA:

  • Once Part 2 of your application has been submitted it will be reviewed by the Clean Heat Rhode Island administration team. If the program administrator has any questions regarding your application, you will receive the request via email. You will also receive an email when your application is approved. Once approved, your incentive will be processed in 3-5 business days.

Quality Assurance

If your application is selected for Quality Assurance (QA) you will receive this notice upon submission of Part 2 of your application.

QA Form:

Click “Enter QA form” under the Quality Assurance column next to the Incentive Application.

Answer installation questions.

  • Upload required system photos.
  • Click “Submit Documentation”

Once your Quality Assurance Form has been submitted it will be reviewed by the Clean Heat Rhode Island administration team. If the program administrator has any questions regarding your application, you will receive the request via email. You will also receive an email when your application is approved. Once approved, your incentive will be processed in 3-5 business days.
