We are pleased to announce that in the past year over 2,000 Rhode Island homeowners, business owners, and nonprofits have taken advantage of Clean Heat Rhode Island incentives! We have exceeded our Year 1 incentive goals by 136% and we are over halfway to completing our greenhouse gas reduction goals.
In order to support the growing number of Rhode Islanders installing heat pumps as their primary heating system, we are announcing the following changes to our heat pump incentive amounts.
Effective for applications pre-approved on or after October 1, 2024:
- Residential incentives for air source heat pumps will be $750/ton
- Residential New Construction or Additions incentives for air source heat pumps will be $500/ton
- Commercial incentives for air source heat pumps or variable refrigerant flow heat pumps <5.4 tons will be $2,000/ton
- Commercial incentives for variable refrigerant flow heat pumps >5.4 tons will be $3,000/ton
All other incentive amounts and requirements, including the income-eligible program, are remaining the same. Updated incentive tables can be found here.
In order to access the current incentive amounts, applications must be pre-approved by October 1, 2024. To allow sufficient time for edits or requests for additional information, please submit applications for pre-approval by Monday, September 23rd 2024. As a reminder, pre-approvals can be held for a maximum of 90 days.
